Is this dangerous? If so what is causing it?

I've left my iPhone under my pillow a few times overnight, when I wake up it is BOILING hot. The battery goes from 70-80% to 0%. I've heard mobile phones give off harmful radiation, so I'm pretty worried. What could be causing my phone to do this if it is locked?

I'm confused as to why this has anything to do with Men's Health.
You need to check with your phone provider to see if there are any safety re-call issues.

These devices generate heat. Most mechancial or electronic devices do. The heat usually is dispersed into the surroundings, but insulating it under your pillow at night traps the heat in the device. Extreme heat and extreme cold have the same effect on batteries by depleting them.

The solution is simple: Don't keep your iPhone under your pillow like this.

  • Wi-fi on laptop causing high ping? When the wi-fi is connected on the laptop and i'm watching videos it causes the broadband wired connection on the computer to freeze and shoot the ping to 200+. I have tested other wi-fi devices such as iphone and tablet and it has no impact on the connection, stays at 35-40 ping, it is only when the laptop is connected and watching videos it causes the problem. Any Ideas?
  • What is causing my iPhone bill? Hi, i'm getting pretty big iphone bills at the end of each month, and i don't know why. I've turned data roaming off, and my contract says i have unlimited calls, texts and data usage. Any suggestions as to what it is thats causing these charges?
  • What could be causing my sore heads and dizziness? I'm 17 years old and I basically spend everyday on my iPad, laptop, iPhone or watching tv. I don't exercise and I don't have a good diet. Every time I stand up I get dizzy and have a head ache. And if I run up the stairs or run a little distance I feel faint. My mum is trying to make me get a blood test but I'd rather have an idea of what's wrong first. Could it be from spending too much time looking at screens or lack of exercise?
  • What could be causing my iPhone to not be holding a charge? It's an iPhone 4, and I've had it a few months short of two years. I've taken good care of it, it's got plenty of memory, updated software, I'm not running many apps (I double click the home button to close them often), but my phone's battery won't last at all lately even when I don't use it very often.
