My husband was driving for Uber 2 weeks ago and some drink guy left his Iphone 6 in the car?
They've tried to contact him several times… Can't get owner info from Siri.
Now what? Is it toast? Can we use it? Sell it? We're not thieves but we're hitting our limit here.
Did You try contacting the police? They can get it to him.
If you're in the UK, you take it to the police station nearest to where you dropped him off. If he hasn't claimed it after 3 months, it's yours. I would guess similar rules apply elsewhere.
According to uber's policy you must offer to return all lost items to passengers indefinitely, but you may charge them to deliver it back to them.
According to most states salvage/surrender property laws, you must report any found or abandoned items to police, then after a certain amount of time has passed you may keep it. Any other discarding or keeping of the item is considered theft, no matter how much time has passed.
Not sure what "hitting our limit" is, but theft is against the law and people have successfully gotten uber drivers charged for theft in the past, so if you want to keep or discard the item you must contact police first.
You can always rest the phone & use it unless it's from Sprint or Verizon
He has probably reported it lost or stolen. You will never be able to use the phone because you don't have the password.
