My iphone 4s will heat up imensley and will not hold charge?

I've had my Iphone 4S for a year and a half and I dropped it, the transparent screen on the camera broke but it still works perfectly when taking pictures. When I plug it into charge it heats up to the point where it is too hot to hold and the battery goes up to 1% then drops back down and the phone turns off. Not sure if the fall had something to do with it or if the camera is interfering or maybe the battery needs replacing? I'm still under warranty but the red dot in the earphone plug has showed up ages ago suggesting that is it water damaged so I don't know if they will cover it? Is there anything I can do at home to try and fix this problem? Connecting it to iTunes does not work or restoring it or updating it as the battery does not hold and the process can't be completed in time

Cook an egg on it.

  • Why won't my iPhone 4 hold a charge? I have an older iphone 4 with no sim card, as i now have a 4s. It hasn't been turned on in a few months, but i decided to charge it and use it. It has been plugged in for about 30 minutes now, and it still only shows the charging thunderbolt on a black screen… Is it broken? Any suggestions? Is it just that low on battery?
  • How often do iPhones actually over heat and catch fire? My mom is freaking out after reading an artical saying that phones that are kept on beds ( even if its not under a pillow ) over heat and catch on fire. I don't want to charge my phone across the room I like to have it close to me. Is that true? Can iPhones over heat to the point when they catch on fire? If it is how often?
