My iPhone 4S will not let me turn on the Wi-Fi?

I have an iPhone 4S and it will not let me slide the Wi-Fi to on and it is just greyed out, it won't even let me slide it. I have looked on other websites about this problem it says you need to get the latest update and then clear it completely and then it will let you slide it but my phone won't let me get the update without Wi-Fi being turned on! I really don't know what to do and I have tried everything from blow drying my phone to putting it in the freezer, does anyone know how to fix this?

If you haven't done it yet, turn it off from the button on top and leave it off for a few minutes. Then restart. The reboot may help the Wi-Fi function again.

Update via USB.

Try this. Go into your settings then tap on general settings then tap reset then finally tap reset network settings. Now you should be able to turn Wi-Fi on
