My iPhone says I have 6GB of photos?

IIm running extremely low on space on my iPhone, and it says that 6 whole GB are being used up by photos? I only have 500, so I know it's not those… What do I do to clear out whatever phantom photos there are without having to delete these 500 pictures I wanna keep?

And I've already tried the "set the date back" trick. Only about 20 phantom photos appeared no matter what date I set it back to, and that didn't help at all. That s why IIm asking here. And I also don't have iCloud, if that means anything.

Use iCloud. That takes care of that. Free and incredibly easy to set up. And they'll be available in your iMac, iPad, iPod and iPhone.

This problem is usually down to cache files being built up over time. IPhones are not very good at removing cache files and unfortunately don't have a clear cache option.

Best way to do it is to create a backup via iTunes on your computer. This will backup everything minus the cache files, then simply do as restore from the backup. As the cache files don't backup, it will purge them, freeing up the space it took.
