SMS Vs Email Address on iPhone Texts?
I was corresponding with a guy for several weeks via text. Then recently, when he texts back it no longer shows his cell number at the top banner, but instead shows his email address. I thought this was weird. I told him about it, and he appears to not know. I don't believe him! I think there might have been a way to somehow switch his SMS text to email. The reason is that when you normally text someone SMS on an iPhone, you can sort of see a preview on the screen prior to opening it up. If he has a Girlfriend that he's hiding from me, then he's pulling these technology tricks. Do you suggest I not hit reply, but instead text him a fresh one to his cell? Do any techies out there know? I'm dying to know this.
He's probably texting you from an app that uses email addresses rather than a phone number. And he probably didn't know the app did this unless the app tells him.
You can setup imessage to go to the phone number or email address, and both will text to the phone (or ipad or ipod touch too)
