Sometimes my iPhone home button doesn't work?

As in, sometimes I press the home button to light the screen up and it does nothing. Also, sometimes the auto brightness on my phone is weird and it'll get really dim in good lighting conditions. But then when I press the on/off button and press it again to light the screen up again, the brightness is back to normal. Are either of these things weird? The brightness thing has only happened like twice, after my phone was in my jacket and my backpack. The home button thing has been happening more frequently (but still not that frequently). Today I recalibrated the button, so hopefully that'll help. But is it normal, or do I need to get a new phone?

I had this same issue with my Fiance's iPhone where the home button just gave out eventually. When I called the Apple store they told me that it is common for that to happen with the iPhones and the only way to fix it would be to come in to the Apple store and get a replacement. You can also go to a local electronic repair shop and have them take a look at it they may be able to take your phone apart and repair the button.
