Tires size 195/65/15 vs 195/60/15?

So today I went to discount tire and I told the guy I WANT 195/65/15. I even showed him all the info from my iphone about this tire, it costs about 103$ each, but He told me Hey! I found a better deal for you its 99$! I was like oh great. Then when I got home I checked it IS NOT F ING 195/65/15 its 195/60/15 OMFG! Then I checked yes 99$ was for 195/60/15 and 103$ was for 195/65/15 so the guy DOES NOT NO S H I T. So now I'm worried the differences between these two! I believe 195/65 will make my car goes a little faster more mpg! So what you think please help!

Ken,

Your biggest issue is if the 195/60-15 sized tire has sufficient load carrying capability. You will need to check the load index on the new tire to make sure it is equal to, or higher, than your original equipment 195/65-15 sized tire.

You should use the tire size your car was designed for. I couldn't tell you what that is of course because in all that ranting you didn't give us the one piece of information we actually need - the year/make/model of vehicle.

Your 195/60 tries are slightly smaller (3.1%) than the 195/65 tires. What that means is your speedometer will be reading 3.1% faster that your true speed - when your speedometer is reading 60 mph, you are actually doing 58.2 mph. Your fuel mileage will be 3.1% less than with the stock tires (ex: 25 mpg vs 24.2 mpg). But that difference can be easily recovered by driving habit modification.

The 195/65 won't make your car go faster, it will make your speedometer more accurate. The mpg difference of -0.8 mpg is true (based upon the 25 mpg figure) because a smaller tire needs to make more revolutions per mile (24 revs per mile in you case). That means more engine RPMs per mile. I would take them back and demand the correct tires. The $4 savings on the cheaper tires is not a bargain. You'll spend more than that on the extra fuel you'll burn over the life of the tires. They wanted to sell you those tires because no one else wanted them. You would have come out better with 195/70.

195/65/15=tyre width/ aspect ratio/rim diameter
195/60/15=tyre width/ aspect ratio/rim diameter
Now difference i aspect ratio or can say profile. A tire with a lower aspect ratio responds to lateral force more effectively than a tire with a higher aspect ratio. The aspect ratio affects steering stability. This number tells you the height of the tire, from the bead to the top of the tread. This is described as a percentage of the tire width. In our example, the aspect ratio is 75, so the tire's height is 75 percent of its width, High performance tires usually have a lower aspect ratio than other tires. This is because tires with a lower aspect ratio provide better lateral stability.

  • What size iPhone 5 should I get? I have like 45gb of music, but i don't listen to all of them, and i currently have a 160gb ipod classic. I heard the battery life of iphone 5 is not that great, so i don't know if i should just keep my ipod and iphone 5 separate and get a 32gb iphone5 or should i intergrate the two and get a 64gb. • TV screen size based on height and width measurements? I'm getting my girlfriend a new tv for Christmas but obviously l don't want her to know so I had to measure her current tv but not with a tape measure lol. I used my iPhone 3GS as a tool lol. The screen is roughly 14 inches up and 24 inches across. So (roughly) what is the screen size? 22inch etc Clearly you haven't ready the description to this question. I'm asking for the tv size based on current measurements of the height and width.
