What do you find top priority?

A 9 year old starting music lessons playing a instrument, or a 9 year old owning a iphone. (Trying to prove a point).

Learning a new skill definitely so learning instrument.

Learning a new skill--like music lessons--is worth being the top priority because if the 9 year old has a talent and is good at the instrument, this skill will serve them for the rest of their life. Phones are less of a priority.

Starting music lessons. By that age a child should have a phone especially in todays world. It's very unsafe to leave children unattended with anyone without communication to the cops. However an iphone is fking ridiculous. I'm 20 and my parents don't even upgrade my cell phone which i had for about 6-7 years now. Do i care? No i would like a better phone to take pics with as i need a camera and we don't have one but my phone can take pics and it's small and portable.might ask them for a new phone though this year for my bday.

Learning to play an instrument because that could lead to a professional career.
