What equipment can I use to record my voice?

I can sing and I want to put videos of my covers on youtube but I have trouble recording myself.
If I sing acapella or along to a song without recording it sounds fine, but when I record it on my iphone I don't sound terrible but I sound like a man…
But it depends on the song. My voice is fairly high so if there's high notes in the song it comes out sounding like when you're talking with a microphone too close to your mouth.
Basically I need something that will actually record what I sound like. I have Audacity on my laptop but my laptop is not good at recording, it sounds muffled.
Any recommendations?

Buy a good quality mic… That'll help!

Audacity? IPhone? Omg…

1. Get a pro mic with XLS connector. The ShureSM58 is ok for low budgets… But better get a 500$+ Senheisser conderser mic.
2. Sure your room is noise-free and properly aconditionated to avoid undesired echos and bounces.
3. Get an USB audio interface or mixing table.
4. Connect mic to interface and interface to a computer.
5. Get a pro DAW like Cubase, add reverb, compression, equalization, etc…

  • What app can I use to change the sound of my voice in videos I record? I have a android internet tablet. I want to make videos but I need an app that changes the voice to a chipmunk for example. I want to use Tre Melvin's videos or Freddy_E's video's on youtube as an example. I' ve looked around an just can't find what I'm looking for. An app like the voice changer camera but for android NOT ipad/iphone.
  • Is there music recording equipment that you can plug into your Mac? My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I'd love some help. He plays the guitar and is a songwriter, but only uses his iPhone or photo booth for the recordings. Is there some sort of music device out there that would allow him to plug a guitar and a mic into his Mac and create a high quality mp3? He plays in a band with one other musician so if they could both plug in their guitars that would be amazing.
  • How to record voice memos on my iPhone that can be sped up? Is there a way to record voice memos on my iPhone that can be sped up? I don't have my computer, so I need to do everything on my phone. I'd like to be able to make a playlist of voice memos that I can play back to myself at about twice the speed they're recorded. Any ideas.
