What is an IMEI number on iphone 5?
I just sold my iphone on ebay and the buyer wants me to give him the IMEI number. I know how to find it, but I don't know what it is/does. Does this sound normal or like someone is trying to scam me?
An IMEI is the phone's identification number, essentially. Every phone has a unique number. It's basically the same thing as a VIN number for a car.
The buyer probably wants to check that phone isn't listed as blocked or stolen. There's not really much they can do with just the number, so you should probably just send it.
IMEI is an identification number for the phone and yes it does sound normal because he just wants the IMEI to check if it's reported stolen or not because if it is he's getting ripped off and he wants to prevent that from happening
