Why are my relatives in Afghanistan so greedy and demanding?

I have lived in America for 15 years now. I'm 35 years old, marries and have kids now. My siblings and other relatives still live in Afghanistan where I'm planning on finally visiting after 15 years. But today when I called them to let them know I will visit them I expected them to be happy and ask me how I'm doing but instead they said don't bring us any clothes just bring us money we will shop ourselves. Another relative said bring me an iPhone. And I can't even afford one myself lol. They didn't ask me about my kids my wife or how I'm feeling or anything.

Do you think this is normal? I'm just very shocked and disappointed

Why not buy one-way tickets and take your whole tribe there and STAY there!

If you visit without doing these things you will be in a video wearing an orange jumpsuit.

I wouldn't travel over there with this attitude going on, and all the problems there. No, it isn't respectful, and likely that is what you will get more of if you go, and the children.

They understand currency exchanges and know that they will be able to purchase more clothes more cheaply in afgahmistan then you could… They want to save you some moneyb

Nope, not normal nor nice… I'd dump them kind of people out of my life… It's terrible IF what you are saying is true!
