Why do people say that Americas never invented anything and are poor?

Steve Jobs invented the iphone, Ipad and Ipod and he was American.

Furthermore the computer, the A.C, the toilet, video game system, gas mask, electric guitar, light bulb was all invented by Americans.

Furthermore US has a median income(And for all you idiots who don't know what "median" is, it is the middle 50th percentile of the income population, not average, so the top 10% or what ever make no effect on it. ) of 44,000 which is ranked 6th in the world

Whoever says we never invented anything is dead wrong. That is nothing but propaganda.
There are many different ways of measuring wealth. A majority of people in the country earn less than the median A very large number of people is disabled, and disability payments are low.
The cost of living is one good way to measure wealth. For example the cost of living in Boston is very high - not so much because of high food or clothing prices, but because of rents (and the high cost of a college education).
One good way to measure relative wealth is to count how many hours it takes an average worker to earn enough to buy standard necessities such as a new car. There are of course many variables in this but for the sake of argument let's say the car costs $20,000. Many people, especially in the South, make this much or less in a year. If your credit is poor you may have to save the entire amount, which would take years at that salary. On the other hand someone who makes $200,000 a year can buy such a car on a whim.
Another thing to consider is benefits. Germany has the 3rd largest economy in the world. France, Germany and the Scandinavian countries all offer spectacular benefits packages to workers, including paid maternal and paternal leave for a period of at least three month. That's promoting family values! Republicans pretend to support family values.
Kuwait gives every citizen a free college education. There are a couple of good non-partisan websites to examine wealth from different angles; nationmaster.org is one of them.

I've never heard anyone say that. In fact from my experience the rest of the world often views Americans as being far more wealthy than the majority of us actually are.
