Why is the Democratic National Committee attempting to commit insurance fraud?

"Organizers of the Charlotte, N. C., convention have filed a police report for lost and stolen electronics, some of which they appear to have valued at as much as 62 times the listed market prices.

A reportedly stolen 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop? $75, 537. The price listed on the Apple website is $1, 199. A lost iPhone? $30, 503. A lost Blackberry? $54, 250.

The DNC did not respond to a request for comment."

I don't know tbh

Because they can get away with it. What insurance company is going to risk angering the Democratic Party by rejecting their wildly inflated claims?

I don't know, but it is reminiscent of an old story having to do with the Pentagon (which is not mentioned because of 9/11 issues). Supposedly they bought 500, 000 typewriters that sat in storage and were never used.

An insurance company does not use a police report to determine the value of equipment. It could be that business insurance is for more than the replacement cost of the items if the value to business operations is considered. Software on the computers could have easily cost that much if it was custom written. The theft was of intellectual rights. Nixon did not break into the Watergate to score a free typewriter, but to steal files.
