Why won't itunes detect my iphone 5s when i plug it into my laptop?
Added (1). A week ago it was completely fine.until today so its not about the iphone 5s being new or anything
Iphone are only connect to mac NOT PC!
Make sure of these things
1) make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.
2) make sure the plug works.
3) check if the PC itself detects it.
4) make sure to unlock your phone and hit "trust this computer."
I know I say "make sure" a lot.
IPhone 5s is the latest iPhone, meaning you need a newer computer to connect to it (I.E. You need windows 7/8 or Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer.
To the other commenter, they do connect to PC's just not all of the Apple hardware- Macs have certain Apple content that can be shared with any Apple product and not to Android devices or PC's like iMovie. There can be versions that are available for PC but not the factory version that come with Macs.
Apple sucks
This most likely is a driver issue where the computer randomly forgets how to interact with the device. This has happened to me with my iPod 4. The article below may be able to help. Http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Skip the steps you've tried once you've made sure you've done them correctly. I would try step 5 first. Best of luck to you!
