Added (1). Obviously if just the outer screen was cracked it would fix that problem but it like an inner LCD crack that is only visible when you turn the phone on. Everything works, I just can't use the touch screen.

The display assembly has an lcd digitizer and shield!
Maybe your digitizer has gone bad!
Changing the whole thing is only the appropriate solution!
