iPhone 5 is 199.99 and I'm not paying that for a phone.

No, but I'm over 30 and that means I can get away with "old" technology.
The embarassing part would come when I had to get out my old (made in the 1990's and still going strong) Nokia and ring a friend so they could explain to me how to use the smartphone.
4S is still a really good phone, even today many still use 4 and 3GS.
Lol I would be proud and show that off, it would be embarrassing if you have the iPhone 2g or something.
