Airport entertainment for a 14year old?

Hi, I'm a fourteen year old girl, who is doing national flying this summer. Hopefully. I just have to get ready. So I'm possibly going to have to fly from California to Denver or Texas. The flight stops in Denver or Texas, and goes to Nebraska. I'm going to be using a pretty large backpack, here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/...00B2P694S/

The backpack has a large compartment inside, with a laptop compartment, I do not own a laptop, :(. But in the laptop compartment is a zipper area small enough to fit index cards and a iPhone. The there's two zippered side pockets on the outside where small things can fit.

Problem is, what should I pack to entertain myself while waiting for the flight, waiting to switch planes, and while i'm on a plane?
(Things I have to entertain myself, :iPhone, ipad mini.)
Any suggestions besides electronics?

Some airlines have little TVs on the back of the seats. They sometimes offer movies, tv shows, music, etc. It really depends though. Pack some books: P

The AK-47 always keeps my children entertained.

Pack a book or some magazines if the games on your phone/ipad aren't enough entertainment for you.

I always go exploring in airports if I have enough time. Each airport is really so different and you can see all kinds of people and crazy, cool things. Make yourself a bingo card or treasure hunt type of list of things you have to find on your trip… Google suggestions. Things like a service dog, something written in a language that isn't English, a person from Europe, a food you've never tried. Find a couple who are arguing (don't eavesdrop haha), a set of twins or triplets, a helicopter on the airstrip, someone wearing a touristy sweater (I <3 NY or something similar). Take pictures, and/or write a journal about all the things you see that are interesting. Take mirror selfies in every bathroom you can find. Hide quarters in various locations in each plane or airport and tell others who are traveling where they can find them.

On the plane itself, things get more boring. Sleeping is always a good option. Try staying up for a long time before your flight if you can and it's practical (ie flight isn't only a hour long). If you write, bring a pen and a notebook and create a story. Puzzle books can be found almost anywhere (crosswords, word searches etc) and can be great if you enjoy that sort of thing. Bring a Rubio cube and instructions on how to solve it and practice. If you don't mind others seeing you, coloring books can sometimes be great time killers. Play dough can be too. Keep in mind things like knitting needles and scissors are not allowed on board so ideas like braiding/beading bracelets or knitting scarves have to work around that. Food's always good too… Things like trail mix that take a while to eat.

Boarding itself usually doesn't take too long, nor going through customs. Use that time to ensure that all your luggage is within regulations (height/weight restrictions, all liquids and sharp objects are in the stowed luggage) and to get together the necessary documents like tickets and passports so you don't hold up the line for other people. Have fun!

  • Will my broken iPhone cause trouble at airport security? Basically I'm on holiday, and a few days ago my iPhone had an accident with the pool. And now the light on the back stays on all the time, and won't switch off. Even when I power off the phone, it is still on. I'm flying from PuntaCana in Doninican Republic to Gatwick. Does anyone think (or know) that my phone will cause me any problems
  • Tax free counter in Luton airport, UK? Is there any tax free counter in Luton airport UK? I want to buy an iphone 5 from UK when I visit there next month. I plan to get the tax free as I'm moving out of UK the same month. My departure is from Luton airport. Is it possible to get the tax free money from Luton airport?
  • Is no entertainment in life bad? I've been a hardcore gamer forever. Now, I'm not allowed to use my laptop because my mom assumes that something with my heart is because of videogames. Suddenly my phone can't use Wi-Fi because of iPhone glitch. And now I have nothin to do that entertains me. Is this bad?
  • Is an iPhone charger going to set off airport security? Just want to know if its going to be a hassle. Don't need to take it, can just buy one there. Anyone know from experience?
