Am I being scammed on craiglist?
So I'm looking to buy an iPhone and there's this guy in my area but he said he goes to college and he could ship the item to me. He said I could pay through moneygram on Walmart. I asked him how will I know I will get my iPhone for sure then? And he said "because it's common sense that I can't just steal you're money chargers can clearly be pressed for theft if I do that's pretty clear to see." What should I do?
Keep shopping
Don't do it. Moneygram can be as bad as Western Union. Once they get the cash they're gone.
I would never buy a phone off Craigslist. Buy from a family member, friend or even a friend of a friend who is upgrading it you want a discount on it. When my oldest started driving we knew we couldn't afford a new iphone so my husband put out the word at work if anyone was looking to upgrade that he could buy their old phone. We got it for a good deal.
If you insist on doing this through Craigslist then say that you will meet them at your local police station. Our local police station posted on their Facebook page that if anyone wanted to safely meet someone they were buying from on Facebook to come meet at the police station. Just meet outside in the parking lot. The idea is first you will be safe or in a safe area than meeting at a strangers home and second if someone was going to scam you or thinking of scamming the idea of police being near by may scare them off.
Look for another one.
Of course you're being scammed.
Don't do that please
Tell him to send it and once you get it you will pay. He can trust you because "if you don't pay clearly you can be pressed for theft, that's pretty clear to see"
- Would you buy an iphone 5 off craiglist? I've bough things off Craigslist before but never electronics, I'm abit worried about all the insurance scams that presently go on with cell phone carriers and the bad imei/ESN phones on Craigslist. Would you buy an iphone off Craigslist?
- Which item would sell better online or on craiglist? I was planning to buy 50 iphone 6/6s cases for 90 bucks and resell or buy 100 bottles of cologne for 300 and resell. What do you guys think would be the better option?
- Should I buy an iPhone 4S off of Craiglist? A lot of people seem reluctant to buy iPhones off of Craigslist, but I'm not sure why. At least someone can test out the phone to make sure it's working with Craigslist, something that's not possible with eBay. Because if I bring my SIM card to the transaction, I'll be able to know if it's working or not, right? So what do you think of buying iPhones off of Craiglist. Answers from people who have actually done this would be especially appreciated.
- Is there anything I can do about being scammed by Nigeria? I don't need anyone to tell me how stupid I was the question is, is there anything I can do? I shipped someone an iphone 4 to nigeria and they sent me a fake email that my paypal was going to be credited, it was a scam and now my phone is sitting at some postal office in Nigeria. Simple question, is there anything I can do?
