An SUV hit me and drove away. I got the license plate #. What happens now?

Let me explain. On August 20th, 2012 a red tahoe hit me and drove away. As they were driving away the passenger in my car pulled out his iPhone and managed to write down the guys lisence plate number. Well i filed a police report… Then contacted my insurance. My insurance hasn't been any help whatsover! My full coverage does cover hit and runs however they have not came out to see my car. & my deducatable is 1, 000. I contacted the police dept n turns out the driver who hit me does have insurance. The guys insurance does not want to help me beacause they're saying that the guy who hit me has not called them back to give his verbal statement. Its a mess! My insurace is saying they'll fix my car and i can pay the 1, 000 deducatable and not worry about the other insurance. But he hit ME! Why should i pay?

Ask police to file hit and run charge.bet he'll give statement. Then send complaint, with details to state insurance dept.his silence doesn't negate liability.

Talk to an ambulance chase lawyer and things will start rolling.

If your insurance doesn't cover hit and runs, it's not full coverage. I've never heard of an insurance company volunteering to pay when the other company was liable. Your story is fishy.

You've done all that you can do.

Do NOT communicate with his insurance company! Refer any questions from them to your insurance carrier. If they send you anything in the mail, forward copies of it to your insurance carrier but do keep a copy for your records.

If the damage to your car is not serious (i.e. It's still safely drivable) then the response from your insurance company may be a bit slower than if it was severely damaged and you needed a rental vehicle or had been injured yourself.

If the other party was insured, your carrier will recover their losses from the other driver's carrier. When they do, the first $1, 000 that they receive will be returned to you if you have already paid the deductible to the repair shop. If the repair shop has not yet been paid by the time that that matter is settled, they will simply pay 100% of the repair cost and you won't pay anything to the repair shop.
