Apple slow down old iPhones is a tactic to force people to buy new iPhones?

Apple claims slowing down old iPhones to avoid fixing a defect of old battery. But people can still get new battery and face the same problem due to patched program? Is the truth is that Apple is unethically forcing people with old iPhone models to buy new iPhones? What do you think?

If it walks like a duck, quack like a duck, and looks like a duck, then it is a duck. So the saying goes.

Same reason MS screws up older OSes, so they can get everyone on Win 10 so they can spy on them.

Apple claims slowing down old iPhones to avoid fixing a defect of old battery.

--Apple didn't say anything about avoiding fixing batteries, which technically aren't in need of fixing to begin with. What is happening there's a natural degradation of the battery. They wouldn't be able to hold the same amount of charge as when they were new. Same for every smartphone maker or manufacturer that uses those batteries. Apple does in fact offer services to replace those batteries (currently for $29)

But people can still get new battery and face the same problem due to patched program?

--No. Replacing the battery with a newer one would restore the full power of the processor since the feature in iOS is designed to underclock the processor when it detects a lets say, less than optimised battery being used.

Is the truth is that Apple is unethically forcing people with old iPhone models to buy new iPhones?

--No they aren't. They could have gone the more obvious step of not updating older models of iPhone with iOS for as long as they do. Currently the oldest iPhone that does get iOS updates is the iPhone 5s from 2013. Android OEMs support their models for 1/2 of that time or even less.

What do you think?

--Apple was doing the consumer a solid, because a degraded battery using the full power of the processor would faster become in operable. I would think most would rather a slower iPhone than one that doesn't power on at all. The problem though was how they went about it. Not telling the consumer what was being done wasn't the best call & now they are receiving the backlash as a result. Though now they are being more open about the issue & in future about the health of the battery in the iPhone.

A new battery apparently allows the phone to work at full speed again.

Apple is the _only_ phone company that keeps issuing software updates for several years, allowing the latest apps to run on phones several generations old - all other makers just abandon phones within a year or so.

Don't buy apple. It's simple… I threw my iphone 7 away because it was a total gimp phone.
