Apple still isn't evolved enough?

Apple can create a iPhone so hi-tech it costs 1100 dollars, but they can't create a self charging phone? It's 2017 why are we still using chargers that take an hour or more to fully charge a phone? It's sad

How would you suggest that a phone charges itself?

Were you proposing the use of RTG nuclear fuel cells?

Well 1st off the X (which I assume is being referenced here starts at $999.

Apple is working on that sort of tech for charging. Just not ready yet. Basically it would work like Wi-Fi except it charges the phone. True wireless charging.

Just saying, of course, Apple isn't the only company that can work on changing current charging standards, so Samsung, Motorola, LG, HTC, Google etc could be called out in the same respect.

"Self charging"? Not technically possible.

There are power charging sources being developed that use the radio waves all around us (cell phone towers, Wi-Fi, in-use microwave ovens, BlueTooth, TVs, broadcast radio (AM/FM), etc. To make specialized material vibrate and charge small appliances - like cell phones.

One of the challenges is to get enough power out of these power sources - or get the small appliances to use less power - or both.

If it is taking too long for your needs, I strongly suggest you get your designs done. I'm pretty sure you'd get paid a lot of money for them - assuming they are viable.
