Are third-party refusbished iPhones considered fake?

I had an iPhone stolen from me (Verizon; iPhone 6), and received a near-identical replacement model from Asurion. The iPhone I received works fine in every way, except Siri does not recognize voice input. (This is not a mic problem, the mic works fine for everything else) This is not really a problem for me, because I don't really use Siri, but it got me thinking…

I googled it, and it seems Asurion makes their "refurbished" iPhones out of any available parts, often using third-party replacement parts not made by Apple, resulting in a Frankenstein-like combination of parts. I also heard many horror-stories about people receiving iPhones from Asurion with no Apple logo on the back, or ones that run a version of Android OS skinned to resemble Apple's iOS.

Lucky for me, my iPhone has an Apple logo on the back, and as far as I can tell, seems to be running a genuine version of iOS 10.1. But what seems suspicious is that the printed IMEI is blacked out, with a new one printed underneath. People on the internet say that Asurion replacements are often not recognized by Apple as genuine iPhones.

This leads me to two questions
1. Would Apple consider this to be a fake iphone and refuse to service it?
2. If I update iOS, will it be "bricked" by Apple? (see attached article)

Added (1). I would also like to add that, according to the Apple website, my phone's serial number belongs to a White iPhone 6. My phone is black.

I can't speak for Apple's opinion of the phone, (sounds all sorts of unauthorized) but try turning "Hey Siri" off and on so you go through the voice training again. It worked when my iPad suddenly turned deaf.

If an iPhone is refurbished by whoever it doesn't change the fact that it is an iPhone. If what you claim is the case I'd simply avoid going through them.

  • Why is it called third party? Who are the first and second party? So like in iPhone, you are not allowed to use a third part charger because it is not supported but I was wondering if there's a first party or a second party charger that exists?
  • Third party iPhone charger? How fast can it cause damage? I have always known using third party no name iPhone chargers can wreck your iPhone and stop it from charging properly, so I avoided. But I plugged my iPhone into my friends charger which I realized after was not an apple charger, it was only plugged in for 5-10 minutes before I removed it- could it possibly have already done some damage to my phone? I can't tell if my phone is charging slower or if I'm worrying myself over nothing!
  • Nightshift for iPhone 5C? Third party app recommendation? Ok so as you may know, iOS 9.3 came with the new nightshift feature which makes your screen more yellow allowing for better sleep. However, this feature is not included for iPhone 5C and down (5, 4S). Is there a third party app from the internet that allows the same effects? No jailbreaking required please. Link if possible. I do have a Mac if needed.
  • Moving data from old iphone to new- third party software? Anyone recommend some programs to move all my data (contacts, messages, app data i.e. Game scores, photos/videos, etc) from one iphone to another? Without using iTunes back up thing
