AT&T will send users alerts by President Obama?

Of all the dozens and dozens of headlines (some really interesting) on this website I clicked on this one first, and will probably check some of the others tomorrow. There's no way I could prove if any of it is true about AT&T able to messages to their users regarding alerts made by President Obama.

Is anyone already using these apps? I think that's what apps are, right?

And, why would some people refuse or laugh at it, since it should be great receiving first hand recommendations or alerts by federal government--or Obama, as the article says.

It's true. I would guess FEMA will inform people during a major "event" about which camp to go to for their "safety".

Just follow Twitter feeds.

I can sum up all Obama alerts in one sentence. "its not my fault"… Thats his answer to every problem.

What the hell kind of alerts would the president send? The Emergency Broadcast System already takes care of national emergencies of any sort and people already get 911 calls to their house in case a train derails in the area or whatever. The only way I would really want this app is if the president himself called my phone and personally congratulated me over something and I could dial the app and Obama answered while trying to get some nookie from Michelle or while taking a shower. Otherwise, the app is downright annoying and the fact that you can't turn it off is even more annoying. At&t is just annoying as well.
