Better to make a Universal device on Xcode or first make iPhone and then convert to iPad?
I have created my iPhone version but not yet done the app store process. Now i want this iPhone version to be on iPad and iPod touch. So do i just remake the iPhone app and make a universal device in Xcode or do i just convert my iPhone file into a new iPad file in Xcode? I'm using xcode 5.1 for now.
Added (1). Also, what's the difference between making a universal device for iphone/ipad and making iPhone first and then a separate iPad just converted? What's better?
In app store for example Swing Copters, under information it says his app is optimized for iPhone 5 but compatible with other devices. Does it mean he first created iPhone and then converted into iPad or does it mean he did universal devices in Xcode?
A universal app will typically be a larger file because it contains resources, mainly images, that have separate versions for each device type. The code is more complicated since it has to include accommodations for formatting data to different window sizes, and even completely different interfaces.
A compatible app may only be written for a specific device, but may have some code for converting resources and data to accommodate various window sizes. This usually means scaling images and windows. This is evident when running an iPhone app on an iPad. Everything is scaled up and fuzzy.
By releasing separate versions for individual devices you can reduce the complexity of your code and the size of the final program file. For games and graphic apps this can make a big difference.
But it means more work for you to write all the different versions.
- Universal Orlando tickets on iPhone? Going to Universal soon, is there anyway I can order the tickets online and have access to them on my phone so I don't have to print them out? I can just show them a barcode or something to that extent on my phone?
- Is there a universal sim card? Iphone 5? Is there a sim card that will work on every and any phone? I just want to use it to activate my iphone so I can than use it as an ipod. I have the iPhone 5 and I can't use it all without activating it with a sim card first after that it doesn't need one tho. I'm stuck on the page that says pick language and stuff I can't go anywhere else without a sim card. Or can I buy pre paid one?
- Is there a universal code for pairing an Iphone 4 to a car stereo deck? I have a new Planet Audio deck, Model #P9734B / my husbands android phone paired without a hitch, but my Iphone 4 is asking for a code. When I paired the same phone to my Ford Focus, the car gave me a code for pairing. The Planet Audio does not do this. There's nothing in the manual either.
- How to turn my iPhone into a simple universal remote? If there's an inexpensive way of doing this that would be great. I'm however willing to pay. If there's no easy way without a high price, I would also like an example of a universal remote small pocket size that is like the sonic screwdriver universal remote yet not as themed?
