Broke an iPhone screen, what is the best course of action to take?

I just cracked the screen on an iPhone 6s. The phone is under a year old so I'm not looking to replace the phone any time soon. I had to not bought the Apple Care so I do not have the benefits. It will cost me $149 to repair the screen but I'm wondering if it could be cheaper since my phone is under a year old. And would it be possible to trade in this broken phone for another iPhone 6s or iPhone 7 (not looking for newer models) for cheaper price?

Do not suggest that I repair it myself, I do not trust myself enough. And I also am not going to repair stores outside of Apple since it is risky.

You can trade it in. But obviously for less value since the screen is broken. You can look at sites like apple, or carrier sites like Verizon, or whichever you have, and see what the trade in value is. If any.

if the phone is under a year old, there maybe some sort of warranty on it. Either call the carrier store for your cell service - verizon, etc, and see if they can do anything. Or, just call apple customer support, and see if they can do anything. Doesn't hurt to get all your information, then make your decision.

but, if you don't pay for apple care replacement, or try a 3rd party repair shop after reading customer reviews and investigating them, you're going to be out of luck and will have to live with it.

depending on the size of the crack, all you could do then is get a screen protector to make sure you don't crack it again, or it doesn't break more. I use Zagg personally, and have been for all my iPhones, so look there, or other companies.

Most major malls have a kiosk that replaces screens while you wait. The cost is $75-$125

Go to Batteries Plus or a similar store & have them replace the screen unless it voids your warranty.

Replacing the screen yourself is not that hard. Watch some U-Tube repair geek do it. Maybe you will change your mind. I have fixed several for friends and family, buying parts through e-Bay and have never gotten a bad part. Just be double sure, the part you order is for the exact same model as yours. Often, you can watch two different people do the job. Take notes and go for it. If you want to protect yours, put a heavy "Otter Box" on it.

  • Why further action on Craigslist ads? I keep posting in the personals through my iPhone app and it used to just post from there. Nowadays it says further action required, sends me an email, then I have to click a link, then accept terms then it posts. It's not that bad but anyone know why it's doing that?
  • What is the best inexpensive camera for low light action shots? I have recently had a baby and have been taking lots of pictures of him with my iPhone… I know… Bad. Needless to say I have missed out on a lot of great shots. Now that my baby is more active and never sits still I have an even harder time getting a good picture of him. I'm looking for a camera around $350 that is easy to use and will not produce blurry pictures. We're inside just as much as we're outside so a camera that does well in low light is a must.
  • What is the best DSLR starter camera for taking action and still shots of animals? I'm overwhelmed by all of the options. This will be my first real camera. I've been using my iPhone for pictures and am just tired of being so limited. I mostly take pics of dogs playing and doing agility courses, but I want a camera that will also be great for doggy portraits, regular wildlife, and landscape shots. Price isn't a big concern. I want to make sure I start off right! Any ideas of what would be best for a beginner like me?
