Be careful, be sure to check the serial/imei number and match it to websites like swappa.com/ gazelle or the respective carriers website. Check to see if it has an icloud lock, if it does don't buy it. Also try to match ebay prices so they don't rip you off
Yes google check esn free and run the imei before you buy look out for lost/stolen, fraud, or financed if its tmobile
