Buying an iphone from someone?

Not going to go into much detail about why i can't just buy one from verizon but i got my iphone 5 stolen and need a new smart phone.buying from someone personally like a friend or coworker or something should cost how much? Like an iphone 4 or 4s
this guys talking 200 so i don't know

/if you know stores i can find them cheap

I got mines for 120 iphone 4 it was old pretty sure it was stolen or found and the guy just restored everything n sold me it

you can have the phone updated for free at an apple store

They can answer compatibility questions, verizon and iPhone are two of the most proprietary companies I've ever seen,
make sure to get any security codes installed in the phone by the former owner.

Before you buy it ask for the esn to make sire its clean. If they give you a hard time move on. This way you won't buy a blacklisted cell. From ebay or craiglist. So you don't throw money away
