Buzzing sound studio monitor?

I had the m-audio bx5a deluxe, the left speaker's tweeter burned out, smoke came out of it. Maybe its just bad luck.left one works fine.

i just got a a pair of yamaha hs80m and when i plunged it in, it has a buzzing sound.
i tested it on my iphone and laptop and it works fine, no buzzing sound.

went out and got the monster power center (power conditioner), plugged the computer power cord into the monster power center and its still doing the same thing.
i'm using the soundblaster x-fi (sound card), corsair hx1000w (power supply),
no on board audio so i can't test and see if my soundcard is causing the problem, but why my yamaha buzzes but the m-audio doesn't buzz

anyone has or had this issue please advice because i hate to go out and get a new sound card and find out that the powersupply is bad (not properly ground or something)

so is the problem caused by the power supply, or soundcard

i've tested multiple devices so i know its not the cable or the speakers
i unplug the wires that goes into the pc and the buzzing sound stopped so i know something is wrong with the pc but i'm curious why the m-audios don't buzz like the yamahas

First take back the power line conditioner that is not going to help and is not the issue.

Here is the deal. All homes have 220v coming into the electrical panel. The 220v line is then split 110v to each side of the panel. The issue is each side is now 180 degrees out of phase with one another. So if you have any equipment plugged into different lines (AC outlets) and are out of phase and sharing a common ground you will get a buzz or ground loop.

So the solutions are, make sure all components are plugged into the same outlet, (making sure you don't have two or more high current devises plugged into the same outlet, as this to large a current draw on one line) "or" you can lift grounds.

You can lift grounds by using a 3 prong to 2 prong AC ground lifter you can get at any hardware store. You only need to use it on any components plugged into different lines.

It will not hurt anything, and you will not be at risk of damaging anything.

If for some reason that is not the issue, the only other things can be, dimmer switches, refrigerators, or AC power cables running parallel with speaker cables or interconnects.

By the way power conditioners, and surge protectors are a waist of money and do not help or improve sound.

Good luck

  • Will my singing voice sound better recorded on a professional mic in a studio? & does it get edited? All I have to record me singing is my iPhone & I think I sound awful over that & it makes me sad & say horrible things that I suck
  • Why is my iPhone making a buzzing noise? Whenever I play music or any sound is made on my iPhone 4s (which I have only had a couple weeks) it sounds like the speakers are sort of buzzing. Like the music isn't clear. It sounds like if you were listening to the radio but it wasn't tuned properly. What could be wrong and how can I fix it?
  • Why iPhone s earbud make loud buzzing noise? When I was playing music on my iPhone 5s using its earbud, suddenly it makes a loud buzz (nearly killed my ears). At first, I thought it was my phone, but when I unplugged my earbud, the sound works fine. And then I thought my earbud was the problem but when I tried to restart my iPhone, and plugged in my earbud, it works! Happened for a few times and I still don't know how and why it happened.
  • Studio monitor buzzing issue tech savys I have a pair of KRK Rokit 5 monitors hooked up to FL studio via a 3.5m(sth like that) rca cable to to my laptop audio jack, and they make this annoying subtle fuzzy sine buzzing noise, they don't make any noise when the jack isn't hooked up to anything, they also make the exact same sound any time i plug the cable to anything such as my iPhone, anyone can troubleshoot based on this? I would really appreciate the help.
