Calories too low on Lose It App?

I have the Lose It app on my iPhone and for my weight and height, in order to lose 2 lbs per week I have a 796 calorie budget. Everyone online says in order to lose weight you should not eat less than 1200 calories. If people use this app and it works, why are the calories so low? Would I lose weight if I ate 796 calories a day? (I can't workout due to recent foot surgery)

My doctor is concerned that I don't get enough calories to eat each day due to my diet, and suggested that I get a calorie counting app so I can see if I get enough to eat, and possibly up the amount of calories I consume. I'm not trying to lose weight, but if you suggest a weight lose app I wouldn't object to trying it out. I'm willing to pay for this app too.

  • Is 890 calories too little for me to eat per day? I'm 20, 5 feet and 98lbs. I normally never eat over that anyway. My body functions well… I want to lose a few lbs I have been hitting the gym. According to my iPhone app LoseIt- I have a calorie budget of 890 calories per day if I wish to lose 1 1/2lbs per week until June 15! People say its too little but everybody is differnt. I can't eat the recommended amount of calories per day because its just way too much for my body…
