Can a iphone 4 or a 4s from verison be unlocked?

My friend is getting the iphone 5 and he will give me his 4. I have T-mobile which dooesnt carry the iphone. Can it be unlocked so that I can use it with T-mobile? If so how do I unlock it?

Verizon iPhone 4 can't be unlocked for a GSM network. It can, however, be unlocked for another CDMA network like cricket. The iPhone 4s is able to be unlocked and used on GSM and CDMA networks. Use the GEVEY unlock technique or factory unlock technique. In your case, if you want to use your friend's iPhone 4 on T-mobile, it is not possible as it does not accept sim cards. IPhone 4s and 5 are the only iPhones so far that are able to be used on GSM and CDMA networks.

No you can't… Verizon does not allow it. I do believe they will allow "unlocking" on the iPhone 5. You could unlock an ATT iPhone for T-mobile though. Sorry Man…
