Can a minor be charged with a felony?
If a minor were to steal an iPhone 5 (Worth over $500), and the iPhone case (Worth over $30), it's officially a grand theft. Would the minor be charged with a felony, or a delinquent act? Would he spend time in Juvenile Hall? Would he be on probation? Will he be placed in prison when he turns 18? What exactly would happen?
(Take into consideration that I'm in Florida.)
Yes, a minor can be charged with a felony. It's up to the local District Attorney.
The judge is going to say if you can do the crime you will do the time… But since it is under 3500.00 you will be on probation and it will be on your record and mabe some time in juvi hall and your parents will be charged the amount of the phone and case
- Would the police get involved for an expensive stolen object by a minor? My mom bought me glasses($400). They are "real" and the lenses are made to fit my eye vision. I'm in middle school and a high school boy who has a reputation for stealing things (ipods, iphones etc) stole my glasses while he was hanging out with me. Will the police be willing to get involved in this? I live in California. I really need them back, they're expensive and I can barely see anything during class… Or life
- Will scratches and minor dents void my iPhone 4's warranty? Yesterday I called apple because my lock screen button had been pushed in, I was told that as long as it hadn't been dropped, which it hadn't, that it should be replaced at the spot but I'd have to bring it into an apple store. Now what's worrying me is that there's a few scratches around my lock button because I used to like wearing long acrylic nails and using them to take debris out of in between the button. Will this void my warranty in any way?
- Will I go to jail or receive a felony for a iPhone I found and sold? Or what are the odds? Yes I actually found it, it was left on a staircase with no one around and after a while I just decided I would go to GameStop and see what they would offer me. I ended up getting 100 dollars but now I'm worried someone might call it in stolen or missing and they'll track me down.
- What happens to a minor who is charged with theft while on probation? Someone stole my brand new 500$ iPhone at school on Wednesday, and I found out who it was today. The person is currently on probation, but my family will be pressing charges. Is there a possibility this person could be locked up? If not, what would his punishment be?
