Can an Iphone with bad ESN be activated?
I'm looking at buying an iphone 4 or 4s from ebay, a lot of them on verizon say bad ESN. Does anyone know if it would work if I was to buy it, get it unlocked and change it to a New Zealand network? Iphone's here are stupidly expensive.
Won't work at a phone ever with a bad esn. It can be used as an expensive ipod touch
If I'm correct the esn goes "bad" for a given service provider. If it's flashed over to another service provider then it should be fine. I'm almost certain that's how bad esn's work. You should ask the service provider you are planning on going with to be sure they can even flash it over to their own network.
On a side note, are you sure new Zealand even has cdma networks? Because if not then buying a Verizon iPhone will do you no good. You would need a gsm (SIM card) unlocked iPhone.
Sorry you can't.
- Would a bad esn version iPhone be able to be activated with simple mobile? So I want to buy a iPhone 5 and I saw one on eBay for Verizon but it has bad esn like now Verizon has its iPhone 5 unlocked but if it has bad esn would I be able to activate it? The iPhone 5 for Verizon is factory unlocked which allows you to connect to gsm which is what simple mobile is
- Verizon iPhone 5 comes gsm unlocked so if the esn is bad can you still use gsm? I was wondering sense the iPhone 5 for Verizon come GSM unlocked, if the ESN is bad can it still be used with GSM networks? Please let me know thanks
- Is buying a iPhone with Bad ESN bad? I want to buy an iPhone 4 or 4s but it says bad esn. I'm not going to activate the phone to any provider. I just want it for Wi-Fi for home use. Is it bad to buy it or okay?
- Does a bad esn in America still be a bad esn in places such as Canada? If I buy an iPhone with a bad esn I know it just basically an iPod but will the bad esn (Sprint) be followed when its shipped to Canada and would I be able to use it with a different carrier since there's no sprint in Canada?
