If i get an ipod 4th generation and my friend has an iphone 4s, can we still facetime with one another?

With FaceTime, you can participate in video calls with other FaceTime users over a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection*. Learn more about how you can get in touch with other FaceTime users.

As long as they have FaceTime. Any apple product that supports it can interact with another.
To use FaceTime, you need one of the following Apple products:

iPhone 4 or later
iPad 2 or later
iPad mini
iPod touch (4th generation) or later
Mac with Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later
FaceTime is included with OS X Lion or later. Mac OS X v10.6 users can download FaceTime from the Mac App Store.

Of course. My boy friend has an iPod touch and I have an iPhone and we FaceTime all the time.

Defo-facetime is like skype. As long as its a apple product you can use it but if you do have probs then use skype as its basically the same thing.
