No the resistance of the speakers would be too great for the iphones internal amplifier, you probably be just able to hear something through it but not at great volume
You will need to put through a separate amplifier, use a 3.5mm jack to phone lead into one if its inputs, then you will hear a decent sound through it, far better than through a dock
