Can I activate/set up an unlocked iPhone 4S with a prepaid SIM card? - 1

So, I'm getting the iPhone 4S, but my parents don't want to pay for a 2 year contract, they said I have to, but I don't wanna spend my money on that right now: P So, I'm trying to compromise and I've been doing the research, but I haven't found a solid answer for this. Kay, so, I get the unlocked iPhone 4S. I get a prepaid T-Mobile Micro SIM Card Activation Kit. The phone is new and unactivated, all that jazz. Is it possible to ACTIVATE and SET UP my new iPhone just using the T-Mobile SIM? Or does it HAVE to be a carrier like Verizon, AT&T, etc?
Here I'm quoting from the T-Mobile website: If you have a T-Mobile® phone that needs to be activated, or an unlocked GSM phone you want to use on the T-Mobile network, you can get a SIM Card, choose a plan, and slip the SIM Card into your phone.
So, does this mean that I'll be able to do what I already explained?

No.

The 4S is a Verizon device with a SIM card that is designed for GLOBAL use. The idea is that people who own CDMA devices (such as Verizon and Sprint customers) can take their phones OUT of the US and use a foreign SIM card on local networks.

That SIM module will not work with American SIM cards from T-Mobile, AT&T or any other US provider.

You can't do what you want to do with the 4S.

This is definitive.
