Can I buy an iPhone on amazon and still use it as my phone for Verizon?

Can I buy an iPhone from amazon or ebay because its cheaper and use it as my phone on Verizon? On Verizon they're $500 because I already have a contract. On amazon they are around $200 which is a lot better. Can I buy an iPhone on amazon and can it be activated as a Verizon phone?

Those $200 iPhones on Amazon.com require that you also get a 2 year contract. Without a contract, they'll cost as much as from Verizon.

And you don't want another contract, since you probably already have one - that would mean you would be paying for 2 phones every month whether you used both or not (and breaking out of a contract early costs hundreds).

A good place to get iPhones that really are cheap without a catch is to buy a used one on Cowboom.com, it's run by Best Buy and I've bought stuff from them. Or buy from eBay.

No matter where you get your new (or new to you) iPhone, make sure it's a Verizon iPhone or it won't work on Verizon.

If the iPhone is a Verizon iPhone, or if it's unlocked - yes.

A iPhone locked to Sprint (for example) will not work with Verizon.
