Can I change from my prepaid device to my newly purchased iphone?

Here's the story:
I have a Verizon prepaid phone ($60 a month for unlimited everything and 2GB of data) and I was wondering if when I changed my device in my Verizon account from the prepaid phone to my iPhone, bought off ebay, will the plan be the same?

Not on verizon as it's a CDMA carrier.

I think the price should be the same since your current phone plan offers 2GB of data. That said, I think you could get the same data plan for less if you chose a prepaid carrier like Straight Talk, Net10 or Simple Mobile.

Straight Talk has a $45/month unlimited talk, text and data plan. Net10 has a $50/month unlimited talk, text and data plan, as does simple Simple Mobile.

Edit: If you buy the iPhone 4s or iPhone5, you will have a "world phone", which is both CDMA and GSM (SIM-card) compatible. If you are looking at the iPhone 4S, look at the model to determine if it is CDMA or GSM.

  • What's a prepaid phone? Can IPhones be prepaid? I'm going to buy an IPhone 4 from my friend and i'm wondering if it can be prepaid? If so do I need anything like a sim chip? & It's not on contract… Or could I just go on a plan without being on a contract?
