Can i connect my iphone to my tv with only a usb cable?
I have an iphone 5s and I wanted to connect it to my tv to watch hulu with my mom. I have a usb cable which connects the phone to the tv, but it doesn't do anything. They said online to get a digital av adapter, but i don't understand it at all and was wondering if i can use the usb and if i'm just doing something wrong. Ty.

Different USB ports do more or less different things.
Some are for charging / powering only.
Some are used only for programming / updating software and firmware.
Some will do it all.
Read The Owner's Manual for your TV to find out what its USB connection is intended to do.
If it isn't mentioned anywhere in the book, it is unlikely that you can use it for anything.
Apple sells various iOS video cables for Lightning socket models such as the 5s and successors. Depending on the iPhone model Apple has cables for composite video out, VGA video out, FireWire, and HDMI out. Nothing outputs into a USB input though.
If you don't want to use cables you can also output images using an Apple TV box connected to your TV.

- Iphone usb cable only charges? There's this iphone/ipod/etc cable i can connecct with my iphone. Nonetheless, it works flawlessly to charge. However, when i connect it to my computer, it charges but it never gives the option to open the device. It doesn't say installing device or anything. But the phone still charges. (I'm on win 7 btw) I borrowed a friends usb (the white original one) and it charges and i can view the device! Is there a way to work around this cable or is it a charge only?
