Iphone usb cable only charges?

There's this iphone/ipod/etc cable i can connecct with my iphone.

Nonetheless, it works flawlessly to charge.

However, when i connect it to my computer, it charges but it never gives the option to open the device. It doesn't say installing device or anything. But the phone still charges. (I'm on win 7 btw)

I borrowed a friends usb (the white original one) and it charges and i can view the device!

Is there a way to work around this cable or is it a charge only?

If the phone is less than a year old give us a call and we can replace the cord for you, free. The cord you are using is a 3rd Party Cable and iOS devices do not get along with 3rd Party products very well.

  • My car head unit charges via USB but won't play music? I bought a Dual XDM260 head unit for my 2000 Chrysler LHS. When i plug my iPhone 5 in via USB it charges and the USB mode pops up then quickly changes to auxiliary. The manual says that the unit is capable of doing such a thing but for some reason won't. Is there anything I can do?
