Can I factory unlock my iPhone 3GS?
I bought a used iPhone 3GS from a friend of mine for my mom last month. She's trying to switch from Cricket to Walmart's prepaid plan, But when we went there today we were told that the phone would have to be factory unlocked to do so. My friend, whom I bought it from, is somewhat of a technical genius and tried to unlock the phone himself but was unable to. Is there any way that I can unlock the phone myself?
Go to a phone shop and they will do it
I don't think you will be able to unlock it yourself. I suggest that you get an iPhone Factory Unlock service to have your phone unlock. After the unlock, you will be able to use your phone to any carrier that you like.

- How to unlock an iPhone 3GS that has been reset to factory settings? My friend gave me her old iPhone 3GS. I reset it to the factory settings and was planning on taking it in to Tmobile to have it hooked up. My problem is i can't get in to any settings or anything now since it was restored. The only thing on the screen is the unlock slider and once you do that it just says emergency call and the little i symbol with the IMEI number. Can I unlock it from here somehow so I can use it?
