Can I flash my iPhone to Metro Pcs?
I really want an iPhone, but I don't want to have AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon wireless as my carrier because it's too expensive. I was thinking about just buying an iPhone and then flashing it to Metro Pcs because I've read a lot of articles about it. Does it really work? If I flash my iPhone to Metro Pcs, does that mean I'll still have unlimited text, talk, and internet? Because that's what I have for Metro Pcs right now.
Sticking with MetroPCS is not a bad idea, but the expenses, say you got the phone for free or have the phone stuck with a bad ESN for some reason, you still have to pay an extra $30 to add your ESN on top of an extra $50-$75 to get your data working on the iPhone, plus your monthly on top of that (around $45).
It will cost you roughly $80-$100 just to get it flashed to MetroPCS, which is about half of what the GSM iPhone 4's are going for now and an extra $45 to your monthly, might as well put that $45 into something like Straight Talk.
CDMA iPhone + $30 ESN Add + $50-$70 Data tool = $80-$100 just to get it set up + 45 for monthly = $125-$145
GSM iPhone ($180-$200) + $45 monthly = $225-$245
The only way I would see it being worth activating is if the pricing for either adding an ESN gets cheaper (which will probably never happen) or setting up data becomes cheaper on this thing because I honestly don't like the whole monopolized Tools thing.
If the tools were out of the way, it would only cost like $30 to get it set up plus an additional $45 for the monthly (which is expected) for an overall $75.
So its up to you with what you might want to do or just go with the free phone from metro and save some money.
I don't think they can flash an iPhone. I don't see it on their list.
