Can I get a normal sim cut to make it into a micro sim?

I'm planning on getting the iPhone 6 when it comes out however I have the iphone 3gs now so I have the normal larger sim. I do not want to cancel my contract and pay a lot for the remaining months. I was wondering if I can get my existing sim cut so that I can put it into my iphone 6?

Your service provider will replace the ordinary sim into Mircro or Nano sim. You can buy a sim cutter and cut into Micro or Nano sim. Any cell phone shop will do it for you. Alternatively, you, yourself can cut it into nano or micro sims, with the help of scissors or razor blade. While doing so be carefull and see the black lines in the sim are not damaged.

It is a nanoSIM the iPhone 6 would use, not a microSIM, which is what the 4 & 4s use & yes that would be very much possible to do. There are many guides online about it or you could just buy a SIM cutter & do it through that.

IPhone 6 will take nano-SIM and you can trim your present SIM to nano-SIM. You need to get a nano-SIM cutter as this will be your first time cutting a SIM.

I've just cut my sim card into a micro sim, Placed it into my iPhone 4s and it states there no sim card in there, They phone was recently unlocked by Telstra and i know it's unlocked because i got a conformation message on iTunes. I would have thought i cut it too small though that same sim card works in my Samsung Galaxy s2 Perfectly? What's the problem and why isn't it working with my iPhone?

Because my current phone isn't working I'm going to buy an unlocked iPhone 4, I don't want to pay £30+ a month so is it possible to cut my sim card into a micro sim? Will this work? And will I be able to still pay £15 a month?
