Can I get an iPhone but only use it with Wi-Fi but still text and call without using data?
My parents aren't going to pay for data and right now I have a "stupid" phone and an iPod touch but I think that I should get an iPhone but can I text and call without using data? And also use it in Wi-Fi with the data always turned off?
Pretty much every wireless carrier will require a data plan for any iPhone or other smartphone these days, even if you don't use the data, the phones have to have one.
Yes you can text, but you can't send pictures or videos without data… And you can call… If you want to send pictures without data is by using other messaging apps that use Wi-Fi, like "kik"
Ipod touches are pretty cool though, all carriers require a data plan
- Moving to Germany from USA to live for at least 3 years to study. How can I still use my phone to text/call/FT Americans while I'm there? Do I need to get a completely new phone? Plan? Phone number? I don't understand this process, as I have never gone through it before. I currently have an IPhone 7 and I use AT&T.

- Iphone 6. Data and Wi-Fi turned on. Will apps only run on data? Or, will it use Wi-Fi when available? It seems i'm burning through data. I tried turning off data to an app i was using when i had Wi-Fi while cannected to Wi-Fi and continually received a message to ho to settings>Cellular>Cellular Data>Use cellular data for>then a selection of aps like safari, google maps, ap store… With cellular data turned off or if just the app chosen not to use data. I was unable to access when connected to Wi-Fi.
