Can I get caught for downloading copyrighted audio from YouTube?
I downloaded an album from YouTube a few months ago on iTunes and a USB because it's not available on any streaming platforms or even to purchase at all. Warner Music has copyrighted those songs and removed them from YouTube, so if I hadn't downloaded them I would have no way if listening to them. I want to do this with some other songs that are at risk of being copyrighted. I only listen to the music for personal use, I don't share it or anything. Is this illegal and am I at risk of getting caught if so?
You absolutely will, and I'm quite frankly ashamed that you would even do such a thing. Don't you know that music artists are struggling to eat because of you people, so to quote my idol weird Al "Don't downlaod this song, even lies owrick knows its wrong, just buy cd like you know that you should and don't download this song", expect to get an email from your ISP very soon, and you might even get sued! Shame on you!
It is technically illegal. However, it is highly unlikely you'll get in trouble. I'm not condoning it, though.
It's illegal and against the terms of use for YouTube.
But as long as you don't share the content it's highly unlikely that you'll have a problem. As you have searched to try and purchase the rights to play the music you're morally OK.
Realistically, the worst which may happen is that YouTube will suspend your account if they detect that you've used downloading software.
- YouTube app on iphone doesn't have any audio? Well my YouTube app on my iPhone 4S with iOS 7 doesn't have any audio. The audio works everywhere just not on the YouTube app. So is there any solution. I tried reinstalling it so it won't work. Any help will work!
