Can i just buy a new iphone 5c sim card?

Okay so i bought an iphone 5c on craigslist but i didn't realize it doesn't have a sim card and everyone says to go to sprint and tell them but there gon a need the phone info but it was originally not my phone so i have no info whatsoever so um kinda stuck right now and not sure what to do can i just buy a new sim card from like amazon or somewhere… Will it work. Right now my mom won't let me have service on it until we can figure out how to move it to metro pcs. So i'm just gonna use it as an ipod if i can. Also if you have any clue how to transfer it to metro pcs that would be helpfull too i'm kinda stuck right thanks in advance

Call MetroPCS and tell them you are bringing your own phone, and would like to activate it on their system. If it's really a Sprint phone, it uses CDMA technology and won't work on MetroPCS's networks. After taking over MetroPCS, T-Mobile has dismantled their CDMA network and has transferred all their existing customers over to their own GSM networks. (GSM uses SIMs)

StaightTalk has agreements with all of the Big Four (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint). Their activation kits are sold online or at Walmart. (Kit contains activation for any type of phone; you'll need the Sprint packet for that Sprint phone). Once you have the packet, call the Cust Srv service number to activate.

Actually, you may not have to buy anything additional at all. Check out the link below, and enter your IMEI. That'll tell you if you can use the StraightTalk system. You can probably activate online or via Cust Svc telephone.

Plan details are the same: Unltd voice/text, 5gb data monthly, for $45/mo.

Yeah, at AT&T they just gave me one for free.

It shouldn't have included one to begin with since SIM cards are to the owner not the phone.

Assuming Sprint is your carrier, they don't use SIM cards in any case since they are a CDMA carrier, so it would just be a matter of getting them to activate it for you with your details. Same with metroPCS is also a CDMA carrier though since the T-Mobile buy over they apparently issue SIM cards now.

Regardless of that I would assume that iPhone is locked to a specific carrier & would need to be unlocked in order to move between them.
