Can I lose weight on 900 calories a day?
First off, I don't want anyones *** about i'm starving myself because i'm only eating until i'm full! If i'm full, then i'm clearly not starving myself.
I eat raw vegitables and fruits all throughout the day. Also eat a can of tuna for protien.oh, and some yogurt too.
I recently added the app myfitnesspal to my iphone to count my calories (i'm 90 lbs overweight, just recently switched from pizza and cookies n junk to vegitables and fruits two days ago)
and it shows that i'm eating between 800-900 calories a day in the HEALTHY things i'm eating.
I've been told this will throw my body into starvation mode because of lack of nutrients, but i'm getting all the nutrients needed.So, will i be able to lose weight? If so, a rough estimate of how much?
Added (1). No, i'm not eating any junk food. I'm strictly raw fruit and vegitable diet right now.
I don't care if it's healthy or not… Eating on such a high deficit is dangerous for your health… Period.
Your body will burn a ton of fat but a ton of mucles mass as well to feed himself, that's not what you want. Starvation mode is also a probability with such low caloric intake… Basically metabolism will think you are starving and will stop burning calories… You will still lose but going on something more reasonable like 1400 would give the same result at the end of the day.
Of course you will lose, but if I may, I'd like to spice up your diet a bit, because you're eating too much fruit and no enough variety, which may cause you to cheat and not get the proper nutrients to feel good. Fruit is very high in sugar, and sugar is sugar to the body, whether it comes from an apple or a candy bar, your body will process it all the same, and that means releasing lots of insulin and weight gain. Stick with the veggies, but replace the fruits with nuts and/or natural cheeses. You can have cream cheese, which I put in my celery, and natural peanut butter (no sugar added, Krema is a great brand) which I also add to my celery. Hass avocados (technically a fruit) is also a good substitute. You can change your protein daily instead of sticking to tuna, switch it up, like chicken, beef, turkey, pork, eggs or another type of seafood. And unless your yogurt is sugar-free, it's also going to be bad and it needs to be cut out. I ate around 500 calories a day for almost 4 months and lost 43 lbs while also on the Atkins diet (low carb) I've now lost 50 lbs total without exercising. My diet is high in fat, low in carbs, and no sugar at all unless it occurs naturally in the nuts and veggies that I eat. I eventually stalled on that low of calories, so I added in 700 calories to get a total of 1200, and I lost 5 lbs in 1 week. When I stalled again, I went back to 500 calories and lost another 5 lbs that week. So now I'm stalled yet again, so will be going back to 1200 calories to try and jump start things again. Not saying it's healthy, but for me, it's working.
That seems pretty dangerous. Instead of starving yourself eat about 1, 500 calories a day and just do exercise. Just burn more calories than you take in. If you starve yourself you will NOT lose weight. Your body will go into starvation mode and save all of tht fat.

At the end of the day, it's calories in (from eating) and calories out (through body heat, organs working, exercise, etc). If you're having 900 calories in, but you only put 800 calories out, you'll gain 100 calories in energy, which is stored as fat. But if you ate 2000 calories in, and did exercise to expend 2100 calories, your body would have to use 100 extra calories per day (from fat) to keep up with your day.
You say you're 90 lbs overweight, and you're switching from a very unbalanced diet to a very balanced one. This can shock your body (you're just stopping cold turkey). If I were you, I'd try making your meals slightly more balanced over time, until you could eat totally balanced meals.
