Can I make a small picture larger?

I just received via internet a cute picture of a grandson and his dog. But it's small, 8kb, and is about 1.5 inch square on my screen. Is there a way to enlarge the picture without it going fuzzy?

It is nearly impossible that the original picture was that small - one likely scenario is that when e-mailed the software asked if it was to be sent small, medium, or original size, the default being small (like on the iPhone.)
Ask the sender to send you the full sized version.
There's no practical way to enlarge it to anything useful and clear.

Rather than fiddling around with the file, why not simply request a higher quality version? I mean, if it means so much to you, yes, there's software which can sort of compensate, it will of course cost you… Simply requesting higher quality version is much "cheaper". -Pat

You can download it and and try to look at it on your computer in your downloads folder. Or you can try to click on the picture and it will take you to a link that will enable you to download or view the picture better. Try to right click on the picture also and it will give you a menu of options

Verify that image you received via email is not merely icon to actual larger image as link or zip attachment,

other option to to reply for larger copy that is printable,

if unable to attain larger copy, then with small copy as 1.5 inch, download and view properties, if file info say 1.5 by 1.5 but at 300 dpi / ppi, then you may be able to enlarge size in inches, but lower dpi value to 72/ 96 increment ratio,

if image is already low 72 ppi/ dpi value then limited increase to clarity is attainable for 1.5 inch to somewhere around 4 x 5" inch enlargement, clarity and details would fade,

I want to remove it from my phone for now because its such a large app but i wanted to have a copy on my computer just in case. Any suggestions?
