Can I put my current sim card into my old iphone?

So my current iphone (iphone 5) came into contact with water, i immediately turned it off although it seemed that there wasn't much water contact. I want to leave it off to be on the safe side, but would I be able to put my sim card into my old iphone 4 to keep getting calls/texts. They are both under at&t.

It depends on the size of the sim, i think the iPhone 5 uses a micro or a nano sim, either way its going to be too small for 3GS or past

Yes you can depending on your phone. I did it with mine from a droid x to a samsung s4 it works

No, the iPhone 5 (both versions) only accepts nano sim while the 4 and 4S only take micro sim.

Once your iPhone 5 is completely dry, (shoving it in a bag of rice is supposed to work properly), try turning it back on, also check that it can charge properly. If this works, any txt messages, including those which advise of a voice mail message, will be sent to the phone.

If that doesn't work you can contact AT&T, or go to a store which provides a connection to their service and ask for a replacement microsim card, register it on the old phone and port the number across.

  • If I put my old SIM card into my new iPhone will everything still remain the same? I just want my number to stay the same and my tariff/package that I pay for every month to stay the same? Need a bit advice, I currently have an iPhone 6s at the moment. I'm not too fussed about keeping all my photos etc cos tbh most of them are on Facebook but as long as my number and monthly package stays the same that's all I'm bothered about
  • Use current phone SIM card to activate old iCloud locked phone? I found my old iPhone 6 and I have a new iPhone 6. I don't know where the Sim card is for my old one. Can I use the same card from my current iPhone 6 and put it in my old iPhone 6 to activate it and then take it out? After I activate it will I be able to take out the Sim card and put it back the my current phone and have two WORKING phones (one with out and with SIM card) without it deactivating or messing up my current phone?
  • Can you use an old sim card in a new iPhone after transferring the info to a new sim card? I'm borrowing an iPhone from a friend, but it requires a sim card. He transferred all his information to a new sim card in a different phone. Can I use the old sim card on a different iPhone?
  • Can you put a cut sim card into the old sim card slots? I have an iphone 5 and my sim card is cut down to fit into it. I want to be able to use my sim in my old nokia brick phone as well though because i'm attending a heavy metal festival next week and don't want my expensive iphone to get wrecked in the mosh. Just wondering if its at all possible.
