Can I sell an iPhone before it's paid off?

I'm looking to upgrade my phone; I'm currently financing an iPhone 7 with AT&T with 16 out of 30 payments already made ($274 to pay it all off) I tried to trade-in with AT&T and they only offered $97, which I know I can get way more than that.

Is there any way I could sell the phone for maybe $500, then use that to pay off the $274 that's due? If I do that, will the IMEI/ESN still be good and activated with other carriers? Will I still be eligible for an upgrade?

Until you pay off the phone completely, it isn't your phone and you would be selling stolen property.

You could try to sell the phone for $500, but isn't worth that much. No one in their right mind would pay $500 for a used, 3 year old phone.

If you're going to sell the phone, you will first need to pay off whatever is owed and then sell it.

I would ask a place that sells phones about it

Can you sell it? Yes. Will the person buying be able to use it? No. So if you plan to sell it, you need to pay it off first, because no one will want to wait until it's paid off to use it.

And if you don't tell them it's not paid off, you are trying to scam them when they try and find it is blacklisted.

  • Can I use my sprint phone with another carrier if it isn't paid off? I current have a iphone through sprint but the plan is pretty expensive. I'm thinking about switching to boost mobile. Can I use my sprint phone with boost mobile even though i haven't paid it off with sprint yet?
  • Should i replace the back of my iPhone 4 before i sell it? It cracked last year, but I just put a screen protector over it and continued using it. Now my contract is up, and I'm selling it&getting the iPhone 5. Should I replace the back glass (since its easy to replace) before selling it, or would that cost more? Which would be cheaper?
  • My Iphone keeps shutting off, but before it shuts off, my screen freezes and there's these lines that show up, they're random? My Iphone keeps shutting off, but before it shuts off, my screen freezes and there's these lines that show up, they're random. Sometimes there's this crackling sound, and sometimes the line move, my mom says its just the phone, but my dad says, its the proccecor and that its overheated, i have an Iphone SE rose gold 64 gb and my iOS is 12.3.1
  • Is it worth replacing my cracked iphone back before i sell it? I have just got the iphone 5 and i want to sell my iphone 4 to mobile exchange they offered around £130 for it in working condition but when i emailed and said it has a small crack on the back they said the price could go down to £46 depending on how bad, but i need to send it off for them to asses. My question is, i can get the back repaired for £15 and then send it off, but will this be cheaper then sending it with the damage? Anyone had the same problem? Cheers!
